Our Mission
The Amazon Mission Organization was created and exists primarily to proclaim the Gospel Message of Jesus Christ to the peoples living in remote regions of the Amazon Valley of Brazil – Salvation is possible only in the power of the Holy Spirit working through the presentation of the Gospel. AMOR fulfills this charge of proclamation as we help meet the physical and emotional needs of the people as well.
Over the past quarter century, AMOR has been about developing genuine, loving relationships with all we’ve come in contact with along the rivers, streams and lakes of the Valley. We take groups of volunteers from many different evangelical backgrounds. We choose not to engage in denominational differences. Instead, we lay all dogma aside for the sake of sharing the only Word capable of changing lives – the simple, pure Gospel Message of Jesus Christ.
As we travel to these remote villages and communities, we minister through medical and dental clinics as well as bible schools and studies for children and adults alike. We also drill fresh water wells and make repairs to existing structures. All this to enrich the physical as well as spiritual lives of the dwellers. We are blessed to watch as the Hope of Christ’s Gospel dispels feelings of futility and disparity. It is a beautiful task on behalf of a beautiful people we’ve been given to be about.
As the direct result of AMOR’s ministry, eighty-eight hundred and eighty (8,880) souls have come to know Christ and followed Him in baptism. Two hundred-thirty thousand, four hundred (230,400) people have been tended to medically, dentally and through the fitting of reading glasses. More than a million (1,000,000) prescriptions have been filled at no cost to those that were treated - countless surgeries have been performed as well. Dozens of fresh water wells have been drilled. Over a hundred buildings have been constructed where more than fourteen thousand (14,000) now meet to worship and study the Bible on a regular basis.
Where there was once no evangelical presence whatever, a dozen Itinerate Pastors have been left behind to minister in the regions we’ve travelled. Our River Bank Bible Institute still serves as the primary source of learning for the +/- 80 lay pastors in the field. It has been a wonderful venture in God’s leading and provision. The Vision He placed on our hearts so many years ago, is still burning and vibrant today.
All who care to join us as we venture forward is welcomed and encouraged to do so, today…
