The Scriptures

The Holy Bible was written by men inspired by the Holy Spirit of God and is the record of the revelation of God of Himself to man. We believe in the verbal (every word) plenary (all the words) inspiration of the Bible and its divine preservation, which gives us an infallible word from God. It is infallibly true in all areas of knowledge treated, whether spiritual, moral or historical in nature.

God

We believe there is one and only one living and true God. He is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ as revealed in the Holy Bible. He is a personal Being, the Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer and Ruler of the universe. He reveals Himself to us as Father, Son and Holy Spirit who are distinct in personal attributes but one in essence, nature and being.

The Gifts of the Holy Spirit

We believe that all the gifts given in the Holy Scriptures are still valid for the Church today. Each Christian is gifted solely by the sovereignty of the Holy Spirit. Each Christian's gifts differ according to the will of the Spirit. Each and all gifts must be exercised according to the instructions of the Scriptures and for the edification of the Church.

Man

God created man by a special in His own image. Man is the crowning work of God's creation. Man was created pure and innocent of sin. He was created on a probationary basis with the responsibility of choosing to obey or disobey God. Man, by the temptation of Satan and his own will, chose to disobey God and thus brought upon creation the sentence of death. Thus, man is depraved and is totally unable to effect reconciliation with God. He is absolutely dependent upon the grace of God to show mercy and provide a way of redemption.

Salvation

Salvation involves the redemption of the whole man, body, soul and spirit. Salvation is provided solely by the grace of God, through faith alone in Christ alone. There is no salvation apart from the shed blood of Jesus Christ, God's Son. There is no other way to the Father but through the blood of His sacrifice upon the cross. Repentance and faith are inseparable experiences of grace. One must genuinely repent of sin and turn to Christ in faith. Repentance is the turning from or abandoning of sin and turning to God. Faith is trusting in Christ to accept you and cleanse you by His blood. Faith is the commitment of the whole self to Christ as Lord and Savior.

The Church

A New Testament Church is a gathering together of those who have been called out by God through His Holy Spirit; transformed by His grace alone, through faith alone in the atoning work of Christ alone; baptized by immersion as a testimony of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and one's personal death to self and new life in Christ Jesus; for the purpose of the worship of God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ and to witness to the world through life and word of this grace available to all who would respond to the Father and exercise like faith in Him through His Son Jesus Christ.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Amazon Mission Organization is to bear a personal witness about salvation in the name of Jesus Christ to every home along the rivers and in the lakes in the interior of the Amazon Valley of Brazil and to leave a copy of God's Holy Word in each home.

Our avenues of accomplishing our mission are threefold:

Through mission trips each year to as many villages and lakes as the groups allow, to minister to the spiritual and physical needs of the people. This will be done through Personal Witness teams, VBS teams, Worship services, Medical teams, Dental teams, Optical teams and Construction teams. All supplies furnished by the Amazon Mission Organization and needs are met on a first come first served basis, except in cases of dire emergencies.

Through support of Brazilian Itinerant Pastors, providing each with a river boat sufficient for a couple's living quarters, providing monthly support and on hand supervision of their work.

Through the training of the Itinerant and Local Pastors in the interpretation and understanding of the Word of God. This shall be done through our River Bank Bible Institute which endeavors to train them twice each year in ten days of teaching and learning.
