Optometry

Our optometry teams provide reading and distance eye-glasses to the villagers on location. Eye exams are conducted and the proper prescriptions are either provided on the spot or are written down for the patient to seek elsewhere. Eyeglasses are very expensive in Brasil and most who need them, simply cannot afford them.

In addition to the eyeglasses, our teams sometimes perform simple procedures that increase the chance of prolonged sight for these villagers and provide medications and eye drops to relieve infection and discomfort.

When soliciting donations for your trip, we suggest the requests be limited to “readers” in strengths of +/- 1.25 to +/- 3.75.
